24/7 • 365 Days a Year • Sussex

Our Community Falls & Urgent Care Service is a proactive, clinician-led solution designed to help people remain safe, independent, and supported in their own home, while avoiding unnecessary hospital admissions.

This service is currently available to private clients across Sussex and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Simple, Affordable Protection

  • £29.99 per month

  • No contract

  • Cancel anytime

  • Unlimited fall call-outs

  • Subject to terms and conditions of fair usage

  • The subscription includes installation, monitoring, and clinical response, not just an alarm.

Advanced Falls Alarm Technology (Included)

As part of the service, we provide and install our own specialist falls alarm system, professionally set up in the client’s home.

How it works:

  • The client wears a lightweight wrist pendant

  • If a fall occurs:

    • The client can press the button to speak directly to our control room

    • If they are unable to press the button, the pendant automatically detects the fall

  • The pendant communicates with the home base unit via Bluetooth

A Clinical Response — Not Just a Call-Out

When a fall is detected, we do not simply call an ambulance as default.

Instead, we provide a guaranteed on-scene clinical response within one hour, delivered by:

  • Fully qualified Emergency Paramedics

  • Experienced Emergency Medical Practitioners

This ensures the right care is delivered at the right time, in the right place.

Why Avoiding Long Lies Matters

Falls are one of the leading causes of emergency hospital admissions in older adults.

Research consistently shows that:

  • Approximately 20–30% of falls result in a “long lie” (being on the floor for over an hour)

  • Long lies significantly increase the risk of:

    • Acute kidney injury

    • Rhabdomyolysis (muscle breakdown caused by prolonged pressure and immobility)

  • These complications frequently lead to avoidable hospital admission

Once admitted, older adults — particularly those with dementia or cognitive impairment — are known to:

  • Deteriorate more rapidly in unfamiliar environments

  • Lose muscle strength due to bed rest and reduced mobility

  • Experience delayed discharge due to pressures on NHS social care funding

This creates knock-on effects across hospitals, ambulance services, and other patients who require urgent care.

What Our Clinicians Do on Scene

In the event of a fall or urgent medical issue, our clinicians will:

  • Conduct a thorough clinical assessment

  • Check for injuries or signs of serious illness

  • Provide minor injury or emergency trauma care where required

  • Safely assist the patient from the floor using professional lifting equipment such as:

    • Mangar ELK

    • Riser chair systems

  • Administer appropriate pain relief

  • Complete a full set of observations, including:

    • Blood pressure

    • Oxygen saturation

    • Pulse

    • Temperature

    • Blood glucose

    • ECG (for intrinsic or non-mechanical falls)

    • Full neurological and musculoskeletal examinations.

  • Complete full clinical documentation

  • Refer the patient to their GP or community services if appropriate

Hospital Only When It’s Truly Needed

If emergency hospital treatment is required, we will:

  • Liaise directly with the 999 frontline ambulance service

  • Provide a detailed clinical handover

  • Ensure the patient receives the appropriate level of care without delay

Crucially, in approximately 98% of cases, we are able to:

  • Safely treat and assist the patient at home

  • Prevent a long lie

  • Avoid unnecessary hospital attendance or admission

Supporting Independence, Preserving Dignity

The purpose of our Community Falls & Urgent Care Service is simple:

To keep people safe at home, maintain independence, reduce avoidable harm, and deliver high-quality clinical care when it matters most.

This is not just an alarm system. It is round-the-clock clinical protection, delivered by professionals you can trust.
