Ashley James Medical appoints Dr Catherine Grant as Chief Medical Officer, strengthening clinical governance, leadership, and patient-centred care standards.
Ashley James Medical is proud to announce the appointment of Dr Catherine “Kate” Grant as our new Chief Medical Officer (CMO), marking a significant milestone in the continued development of our clinical governance and leadership structure.
Dr Grant brings over 30 years of extensive clinical experience as a General Practitioner, with a highly accomplished portfolio spanning primary care, urgent care, emergency medicine, and clinical education. Since 2018, she has further strengthened her expertise within emergency department settings, where she manages undifferentiated acute presentations across all age groups, and she currently practices full-time within an emergency department.
Her clinical approach is defined by compassionate, patient-centred care, supported by evidence-based practice and exceptional clinical judgement developed through decades of frontline experience. Dr Grant’s background includes work across hospital medicine, general practice, out-of-hours services, and locum roles, providing her with a comprehensive understanding of patient pathways across the healthcare system.
In addition to her broad generalist expertise, Dr Grant brings valuable specialist experience in:
Sexual health services
Substance misuse (drugs and alcohol)
Homeless healthcare
Early cancer detection pathways
Her postgraduate qualifications include diplomas in:
Obstetrics and Gynaecology (DRCOG)

Beyond clinical practice, Dr Grant has made a sustained contribution to medical education and professional development. She has spent over nine years as a producer and content creator for a widely recognised international podcast in internal medicine and primary care, and is actively involved in research and development within medical simulation training.

In her role as Chief Medical Officer, Dr Grant provides strategic clinical leadership and oversight across the organisation. She leads the Clinical Governance Team (CGT), ensuring that Ashley James Medical continues to operate to the highest standards of clinical safety, effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.
Her responsibilities include:
